POST MEETING REPORT
3rd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
28 March 2010
1. General. Slow but steady, we have entered the fourth year. All praises for the Allah, all thanks to Allah. The proceedings for the 3rd AGM started with recitation from the Holy Quran by Dr Murtaza Mughal. It was followed by Welcome Note and Review Report by the Secretary General. Accounts and Audit Report was next item on the schedule. It was presented by the Joint Secretary. It was followed by introduction of the new members. Next in turn was Member’s Time. Members made best use of their time, and turned it in to a detailed and extensive Q & A session. New Chairman, owning the last three years of the Forum, responded to each comment, query and the opinion. Next and the peek of AGM was the Address by the Chairman.
2. New Members. Here is a brief introduction of the new members and the audience.
2.1. Miss Hajra Saeed. This was her first appearance, though she has been part of the authors contributing towards TFP Newsletter. She introduced her as freelance writer and a Pakistan lover. As Secretary General I thank her and extend warm welcome. Her detailed introduction will be placed on our website.
2.2. Mr. Bakhtiar Mumtaz. Mr. Mumtaz holds a master degree from IBA Karachi and one more from UET Taxila. He has twelve years of experience in project management and project execution. He is currently serving as a senior IT executive at Askari Bank. He values his identity as Pakistani at priority one. I will request him for his picture and a detailed introduction for the TFP website.
2.3. Mr. Salman Lodhi An energetic and creative young man who is student of BBA, at APCOMS. He expressed his dreams and vigor, both; for TFP. His detailed introduction would be awaited.
2.4. Mr. Ahson Haqqani. He was another enterprising and industrious young man from the student community. He had his vision of tasks and responsibilities for the near future. TFP will need his detailed introduction.
2.5. Mr. Baig Raj. Mr. Baig is a renowned column writer of Nawa e Waqat, He is President of Mughal Heritage Society and Secretary General of Nazria e Pakistan, Islamabad Chapter. I thank him for his presence and active participation.
3. Member’s Time. It is heartening to record and report active participation of a large majority of the honorable and learned audience. This is the hope, for brighter future. Lines below, briefly record the essence of the expression of those who participated. Chairman responded to each, however, response of the Chairman has not been included here.
3.1. Gen Asad Durrani. The ex-Chairman spoke about the vision and participation of youth, he observed at a recently attended forum at Peshawar. He was very hopeful, and wanted to see youth stepping out in TFP, as well.
3.2. Dr. Murtaza Mughal. He spoke at length about his Trust and the school being run under it. Secretary General volunteered to be a trainer and a speaker at this school.
3.4. Mr. Baig Raj. He asked a plain question. What have you done so far and how do you measure your success? At a later stage he appreciated the efforts made so far.
3.5. Mr. Nawaz Mlik. He expressed his confusion about the ideology of Pakistan and the way Islam is being practiced and promulgated by mullah from the pulpit of mosque.
3.6. Gen Sarfaraz. He spoke about his apprehensions on the ideology of Pakistan and the role of India.
3.7. Brig Asif Haroon. The focus was ideology of Pakistan, how it was attacked and mutilated in East Pakistan and is being subverted now in Baluchistan. He highlighted the role being played by India and other foreign powers.
3.8. Mr. Salman Lodhi. The energetic voice covered a list of points; one, role of youth, two, making use of colleges and universities and the third, sources of income.
3.9. Col Riaz Jafri. He supported and advanced points raised by Mr. Salman.
3.10. Mr. Wajid I Bukhari. He raised couple of points. He highlighted an otherwise passionate culture in Pakistan, which lacks social security. He compared with that of Malaysia. He appreciated the transparency in handling and maintenance of accounts at TFP.
4. Address by the Chairman. At the end ACM Kaleem Saadat, addressed the Meeting. The Address is part of the enclosures of this PMR.
5. Accounts. There were a series of small points.
5.1. It was decided that accounts will be maintained and presented from February to March, coinciding with the year of TFP.
5.2. Col Riaz Jafri enquired about the ‘miscellaneous’ head. Here is the clarification. Monthly Statement of Accounts is sent out almost with every PMR. It does not have any such head. It was created for the ease of summarizing the Audit Report.
5.3. The Accounts was proposed to be passed by Col Muhammad Yunus Bhatti and seconded by Air Cdre Zafar Iqbal Mir.
5.4. The Annual Statement of Accounts, Audit Report and the Statement of Accounts for the month of March are part of this PMR.
